the world is not in your books or maps. it's out there! happy 2013!

Happy 2013, Everyone!

I haven't been posting in awhile. Here's something I took before the new year. I got this feather piece back in November. Was waiting for the opportune time to wear it. This skirt reminded me of The Black Swan (with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis) with it's innocence and madness delicately convulsed into this masterpiece. To give strength to this look, I opted for an all-black modern aztec spin through side body-cuts and chunky gladiator strap wedges. Finished off with bloody red lips. I wanted to justify the intricacy of the skirt by giving it an androgynous spin pulled off in black canvass and edgy silhouette. Keeping it monotoned allowed me to inject texture and details. Monotone (again, as you've probably heard me gush in my previous posts!) is key if you want to infuse details without tripping over thematic. Keeping in mind my focus is my skirt, I added details which belonged to the same family- subtle geometric patterns. And later on, played off a little with kitten ears! Haha Cherry on my oxymoron!

in the nude

Hello, world! Been gone awhile! Will be posting some photos of my new pastime (wink wink) a bit later :) Meanwhile, here's something nude... haha Nude slash skin tone slash color. Was at my nephew, Caleb's, christening today down south. Sumptuous spread! Thanks to our host and hostess, Pat and Joan! Can't get enough of those mouth melting blue M&M's! Sweet surrender! haha

Anyhow, going back, for this occasion, I wore this nude mullet piece with cutout back detail. Wearing nude can be a bit tricky or should I say, risky? For most, this shade may come off as tan, camel, or caramel. Either way, my fashion sense translates it with the nudes :) I love this shade of nude because it accentuates one's fair complexion. In effect, it creates a monochromatic scheme in harmony with my skintone. Nonetheless, this caramel shade  also works best against tan skintones. Effect is a sunkissed dance. Nude monochromes, or nude tones in general,  tend to blend like wallflowers, but sprucing them up gives them character, more like the 'umph' reaction. To break the mood of this dress, I added some black and gold accessories. A pair of gladiator-inspired cuffs, gold chain necklace, and chunky heels. Attempted moi interpretation of a 20's side-swept low bun enthused by my recent stint with The Great Gatsby. For this look, goal is to keep it simple (considering it's a morning affair) and yet capitalize by injecting texture-- in comes my fur tote! Have fun! :)

cuts like a knife

Lately, I find myself obsessing with the cutout trend. Cutouts are innovative fashion creations which we can rely on when we're tired of the sexy norm-- bandage dresses, venus cut/ plunging necklines, maxi dresses, and so forth and so on. What's refreshing about cutouts is that you can indulge in them without giving it all- a discreet show of skin- my take on sophisticated-sexy.

For this look, I grabbed my fave maillot and introduced it to my faux-reptilian leggings. You'd think swim wear pieces only belonged to the vast sands and h20? Think again :) To extend my investments on swim wears, I stash them to the city to acquiant them with their urban potential :) ...

I've noticed I haven't posted anything wearing leggings yet (or at least alloted an entire blog on it. Just remembered I wore a different version and posted it together with my Mega stint). Leggings are staple pieces you can pair with just about anything. Most of the time, I'd don tights under dresses or oversized/ lengthy shirts. But because I'm goin after an inspiration-worthy look here (forgive me, but I can only try), I thought I'd brave my overly conscious lower limbs (aka thighs :))and suck the living daylight out of me. hehe I think 'we' survived... barely...

So, if you want to give this fashion a shot, no need to scramble to the nearby mall. If you're a keeper of maillots (1 pc swim wear with cuts), all you have to do is try 'em with any of your fab bottom pieces and off you go! :)

Threw over a gilet (vest) for a complete urban experience. Something you can translate in for a lunch mtg with the boss or simply running for a cup of coffee.

exposed

We recently celebrated our grandparents' 80th birthday last June 16 at my mom's hometown in Calapan, Mindoro. It was a lil Breakfast At Tiffany's rendezvous. Sorry, I couldn't get more photos, or more decent photos at that, was busy reconnecting with family and friends, some who even flew in to grace this one-time affair. Anyhow, here's best effort  (though I know you guys deserve more :( ) :)
